Annie's News
07-28-26 Play reading at Ripley-Grier Studio
On July 28th, I had a reading of my play, "Abra Wakes Up," at Ripley-Grier. Jamibeth Margolis, our director, was a pleasure to work with.

Judy Kaye was in my July 2025 reading, and it was a pleasure to hear her play the role of Abra once again.
I had a wonderful experience working with these artists. I learned from the director. The cast, all singers, brought their beautiful speaking voices to my dialog. Their input helped me to improve the script in spots. Despite bad weather and scheduling difficulties, we were able to present the reading for an industry contact and other theatre friends. It was very gratifying. My thanks to the director and the cast. I have made changes in a new draft and sent it out to all the theaters were earlier drafts of my play were read.

Many thanks to the actors who brought skill and humor to a cold table read today of my play, "Abra Wakes Up": Kelly Lester, Loren Lester, Jake Steinberg, Robert Meksin, and Lindsay Aster. We met in a comfortable corner conference room at Opera America, with windows on two sides. I got useful feedback from the cast and used some of it in creating a new draft of the play.

02-03-25 Jeff Harnar sings “One Private Moment" at Birdland
On February 3rd, multiple Award-Winning New York Cabaret, Concert, and Recording Artist Jeff Harnar offered “Confessions of a New Yorker," which he described as “an early musical Valentine to NYC.” The show featured songs by New York songwriters including Portia Nelson and Francesca Blumenthal. A highlight of the set was “One Private Moment” with lyrics by Annie Dinerman and music by Christopher Marlowe. Hearing Jeff sing her writing has been a longtime goal for Annie. Christopher and Annie were excited and honored that Jeff sang their song.
